Digital files are prefered. Photos should be sent in JPG or RAW via email or ftp. The size of slate that can be generated from your digital photos is dependant on the megapixels of the image you send to us. This is a rough guideline of the maximum size a camera can produce, by megapixel; wide x tall:

3MP = 13.5" x 10"
5MP = 17" x 12"
7MP = 20.5" x 15"
10MP = 24" x 18"
15MP = 28" x 23.5"

Scanned photography can typically be blown up to 150% of its original size, sometimes more depending on the original quality. An additional charge is incurred for scanning physical photographs.
